Meet Samantha

Hello and welcome! I am Samantha, the director and lead caregiver at Green Earthlings. I grew up in rural Vermont and spent years of my life exploring the woods around my home and county. There was nothing that a walk in the woods, or a splash in the stream couldn’t fix.  As an older sister and cousin, taking care of those around me has been part of my daily life since the very beginning. In middle school I started babysitting outside of my family and continued to do throughout high school and college. Babysitting has always been a way for me to connect with my community that I cherish.
In 2013 I graduated from Purchase College with a BA in the Sociology of Education. During this time, I minored in human development, where I completed advanced courses in child development. In 2017 I graduated from NYU with a MA in Environmental Conservation Education, where I focused on the pedagogy of place and narrative in relation to the ECE. My education provides a solid background from which I teach and care for children, giving me research-backed excuses to play, sing, and dance. I take great pride in creating a space where children of all ages can feel comfortable expressing themselves, where they have the freedom and safety to grow.  Green Earthlings is the culmination of my years of study and practice in childcare.
